Application Fee Waivers

The following information is for applicants to all doctoral and MFA programs.

To be eligible for a fee waiver, applicants to Brown University’s graduate programs must demonstrate financial need. Applicants will be notified of the status of your waiver upon application submission.

Application Fee Waiver Instructions

To request a fee waiver, complete the Needs-Based Application Fee Waiver section on the Additional Information page of the online application form. In addition, you must submit documentation and a short explanation that substantiates your financial hardship. Please be prepared to upload one of the following:

• Recent bank statement (in English), dated within the past 90 days
• Financial aid package (for current students or recent alumni)
• FAFSA showing EFC
• CSS profile showing EFC
• Unemployment statement verification from the last 90 days
• GRE or TOEFL fee reduction voucher

The Graduate School will only accept the documents listed above.
